Well, I don’t believe I’ve actually spoken about the key benefits of studying in a European University. I’ve spoken about getting European University acceptance, finding accommodation, preparing and packing for the trip, amongst other things, but I’ll now give you a list of what I believe are the key benefits and why you should consider doing this.
List of Benefits of Studying in a European University
- – High-Quality Education: It goes without saying, several European University in the EU are known for providing a high standard of education. Many institutions have a strong academic reputation and offer accredited degrees that are accepted worldwide. Obviously, it’s not every European University, but a majority. Acquiring a degree from most of those unis will certainly set you apart in your job search.
- – Scholarship and Funding Opportunities: Many EU countries offer scholarships and financial aid to international students, and in some cases, bachelor’s and master’s degree are completely tuition-free. Exploring these options can help alleviate the financial burden of tuition and living expenses. Often, this information is provided on the European University’ web pages so be sure to read thoroughly or contact them to find info.
- – Innovative Research Opportunities: EU European University are often at the forefront of research and innovation. You will likely have access to cutting-edge facilities, projects, and collaborations that can enhance your academic experience. This is one of the greatest benefits I’ve enjoyed being in an EU university and I speak more on this in my article Academic Career Path in the EU. Also, being part of an European University community allows you to build an international network. Networking with students, professors, and professionals from various backgrounds can open doors to global career opportunities.
- – Student benefits: Several opportunities can be exploited in the EU, the biggest being the Erasmus program for studying in another country during your degree years or doing an internship. With both of these student mobility types, you can get to experience living in another country for short periods of time and get this – they’ll give you a monthly stipend to fund your stay!!!
- – Travel and Exploration: Studying in the EU exposes you to a rich cultural environment. If you’re in the Schengen area, it’s so easy to move around. All you need to do is book a cheap flight with Ryanair or book a FlixBus or an Ecolines bus to get to the next country. Your temporary residence allows you to freely move about the Schengen states, and man, travelling has never been easier. Not only that, the experience with hostels and couchsurfing has been the most entertaining for me. Using sites like Hostelworld and Couchsurfing have allowed me to find affordable or free accommodation with the added advantage of meeting new people and making friends EU-wide.
- – Quality of Life and Cost of Living: Generally, life in the EU is manageable. It’s simple if I can put it across plainly. Getting around cities is generally easy with several modes of transportation, and in smaller cities, most things are within walking distance. Aside from that, having a student card awards you with low to zero cost on several things depending on the city. That’s always something to take in consideration when choosing a university as I advise in my article How to choose a university in the EU.
Before making a decision, it’s essential to research specific universities and countries to find the best fit for your academic and personal goals. But best believe, you’re in for an interesting ride if you decide to go! Be open-minded, be adventurous and prepare to have the time of your life.
